Sustainability Champions elected as voice for third
sector

Sustainability and Environment Forum representatives
(left to right) Mike Clark, Paul McIntosh, Richard Toft, Jyoti
Fernandes, Trevor Muddimer and Mike Jones.
|
| Seven new champions for sustainability have been
elected by voluntary organisations all over Dorset. They will
be the voice of a new Sustainability and Environment Forum,
which is open to all voluntary and social enterprise organisations
in the county who are working to make Dorset sustainable and
to care for its environment.
The champions will attend meetings of the Dorset Strategic
Partnership and the local community partnerships, to put their
experience of practical grass roots projects, and the Forum’s
angle on policy, at the disposal of each partnership. Representatives
have been elected to the local partnerships in Christchurch,
East Dorset, West Dorset, and Weymouth & Portland.
|
The Sustainability and Environment
Forum has been set up by DA21, the county sustainability charity,
and Dorset Community Action, with support from the Dorset
Strategic Partnership and Capacity Builders, a national scheme
to support the voluntary sector.
The Forum is open to new members, and any
organisation which would like to become a member is invited
to contact Rob Griffith at Dorset Community Action on 01305
216421. |

Launch of a Dorset e-Network for
Sustainability
24th October |
| DA21 is launching
a sustainability e-network for Dorset. It will be
a valuable virtual resource, enabling network members to feed
into important decisions in different parts of the county.
Community planning, through the Dorset Strategic Partnership
and the Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) across the county,
is growing in importance as the way decisions are made and
funding distributed.
|
By developing a cohesive and
consistent Network presence at all the LSPs, DA21 hopes organisations
working for sustainability can work together to put sustainability
for local communities on the agenda for planners and decision-makers.
A directory of sustainability organisations has already been
developed and recently updated, click
here to access it. If you are interested in attending
this event please contact
us
